Why connector latency matters more than any other metric

The single number that governs your overbooking rate is the delay between an inventory change in your PMS and its arrival in the OTA. Here is why.

The setup

Every hotel of any real scale runs three systems that must agree on inventory: the PMS (where the truth lives), the channel manager (which fans truth out to OTAs) and the Booking Engine (which sells directly on the property website). The single number that governs whether a guest can book a room that is already booked is the latency between the PMS committing the reservation and every downstream OTA receiving the update.
